My journey writing poetry began over 10 years ago. Much of my poetry was written when I was travelling for my corporate role on a plane or at night when falling asleep was challenging or I had woken at 3 am.
Many of my poems reflect the challenges of the busyness of being a working mother with a very demanding corporate role and my observations around our thoughts, feelings, emotions and our greater potential.
I see poetry and also journaling as a way to release overwhelm, circular thoughts, anxiety and to provide fresh insights on many life areas. I use poetry in working with clients to awaken a deeper level of awareness and reflection within themselves.
Some of my poetry from Awaken You for you to reflect on includes
Balance
It’s all a question of balance to gain all there is in life.
Back to centre as opposed to the extreme highs and lows.
Going too far left or too far to the right.
Sometimes playing or creating in the extremes
but, too long in here can weaken the soul, the heart, the mind and the body.
Balancing family, work, relationships, leisure, pleasure, health, money
against my thoughts and feelings.
All concurrently moving on rough terrain or
a level playing field, in synch, out of synch.
Balancing the external impacts on my life.
Balancing what’s inside with the outside.
What makes us tick?
Flicking the switch between fast and slow,
happiness, sadness, highs and lows.
Being over negative or too optimistic,
my own self critic or self-believer,
a self-saboteur or self-promoter?
Which way do I go?
How do I feel today balanced or pushed to an extreme?
Contented, happy, elated, ecstatic
depressed, deflated, stressed or motivated?
Am I balancing along the tightrope of life or
will I fall professionally, personally, pathetically into a heap or
rise above to promotion, accolades and payola!
Polarized extremes,
perhaps somewhere in between centred and normality.
Where will I sit today in my external position
versus my internal view and disposition?
Which way will the scales tip, left or right, up or down or
centred perfectly where my mind, body, heart and soul are one?

What Are You Doing?
Are you awake or asleep at the wheel?
Are you evolved or stuck in a hole?
Are you playing in the garden, ascending the tree of life or
are you down in the weeds unable to rise up from your knees?
Are you seeing the light or only observing in the dark?
Are you bruised, battered or broken or
are you upbeat, uplifted and living in utopia?
Are you depressed, stressed and sleep deprived or
are you relaxed, rested and rejuvenated?
Where do you fit in the spectrum,
at one extreme or another, polarized or
moving backwards or forwards or are you in the middle?
Stuck, mediocre or balanced and growing?
Time to reflect on what you are doing.

Client review about the books:
“Awaken You is an inspirational read; one which can be picked-up and placed-down and absorbed at the leisure of the reader. I kept the book handy and opened it up to random poems after completing the entire paging of the verses, and found this way to provide the most enjoyment in re-reading poems seeing things that I had missed on my initial reading.”
“At the turn of every page…, this book of poems is a positive reminder of the truth that exists if only one awakens to it. Readers who find themselves at a crossroads, needing something to uplift and challenge them in the journey ahead may find this to be a good book to consult for encouragement.”
